Where Are Vector Optics Riflescopes Made?

Vector Optics Paragon 6-30x56 gen II

Introduction

Vector Optics is one of the top makers of sport optics in China. The company offers an extensive range of high-quality riflescopes, reflex sights, laser sights, binoculars, spotting scopes, range finders, night vision devices, and accessories related to these products. The founder of the company developed this business to break the stereotype that “Made in China” products are unreliable and of low quality compared to products made elsewhere.

Vector Optics was founded in 2005 by Xusheng Shen, who was motivated by a limited number of China-based sport optics manufacturers in the country. He invested his knowledge and experience into developing a business, called Sunclear from the ground up, with the idea of producing high-quality optical products. Initially, the founder sold rifle scopes and other products in his part-time to grasp the knowledge of this industry and gain experience.

Two years later, in 2007, a company and factory were established to produce sports optics in-house, which was later renamed Vector Optics after being suggested by a US-based partner. The Vector branding and logo were unveiled to the general public in 2012 and a USA branch was set up in 2014 to increase the reach of the business. Vector Optics products are sold in many countries worldwide, which is commendable since the business was only established 15 years ago.

Production Facilities

The headquarters and main factory of Vector Optics are located in the city of Shanghai, China.

Shanghai, China (Headquarters)

The company produces all rifle scopes in-house in China, with the main distribution warehouse located in Shanghai. The company offers riflescopes for every possible scenario, especially hunting, tactical shooting, and shooting competitions. Unlike other afordable products made in China, Vector rifle scopes are built with high-quality raw material and excellent craftsmanship to give you confidence when used in the real world.

The business was built on the premise of offering high-end telescopic sights with unbeatable pricing, which the company has kept even after its 15 years of operation. The production facility in China uses computer-controlled milling and lathe machines, which shape Aluminum alloy bar stock of high quality into rifle scope housing under the supervision of a highly trained workforce. The machining operation is followed by thorough cleaning and anodizing, in which a natural layer of metal oxide is formed on the surface of the riflescope to increase its durability. When it comes to optics, the elements are made using Lanthanide Rare Earth element optical glass for exceptional optical performance. All lenses are coated with Vector’s proprietary VePRO Full Multi-Coating. In addition to protection against abrasion, water particles, and debris, the coatings improve colour rendition, light transmission, and contrast levels.

The assembly process is carried out in a disinfected room, where the staff wears appropriate head coverings and gloves to prevent dirt or dust particles from entering the insides of riflescopes. The quality control department at Vector Optics is quite strict and 100% of products are inspected for non-conformances before shipping out to the warehouse. For shock testing, the quality inspectors use the Punch Recoil Iron Hammer Kit that tests the performance of the scope against frequent heavy shocks. The scopes are also tested at extremely high and low temperatures, and a 1300 mm Focus Optical Collimator is used to check the optical performance and alignment. This is why a 5-year warranty on all products is offered by Vector Optics, regardless of the price.

The site also houses an R&D department, where engineers use a world-class software to model and analyze state-of-the-art features and improvements in rifle scope technology. The R&D process takes from 8 to 10 months before new and improved features are reflected in the latest models.
